Fabrics and the way they’re used in clothing around the world range from rugged and rough to silky smooth, and absolutely everything in-between. There’s stretchy material, there’s breathable material, there’s absorbing material and repelling material. Here I’ve compiled a list of all the materials used in clothing and broke them down into great detail.
Why is this important? Well, it helps to know what high-end and luxurious material feels like, what materials look, feel and sell the best, what their main purposes are, what their flaws are, how they’re created, etc. I also get into detail about how to wash each type of fabric, because as you may or may not know, some materials – such as silk – should certainly not be placed into a washer and drier.
